Sketchbook Detour
***Temporary Sketchbook Detour***
I began a solo motorcycle trip from Los Angeles on Friday, June 22, 2012, heading north, as far as I'm having fun. I'll be updating my sketchbook with posts from the road, and not necessarily artwork. I'm too beat by the time I'm in camp or in a cheap motel.
I'll continue with the sketches when I get back in a few weeks.
Yeah right! It's been months! I'll get back to it as I finish up some classes and have more time again. Maybe in another month, like in February, 2013.

Disturbing Doodle Art
I just kinda let myself doodle and fill in areas of the paper until I've got a full picture. This one started at the top and finished with the house and smoke towards the bottom. I wasn't trying to create anything, but just filling in the blank spaces. After not looking at the drawing for a day, when I look back at it, I'm seeing a very disturbing story. Yuck.

Meeting Pen Doodle
At least I could show you what I'm mumbling about next time I don't have any current work and put up some of my old prints.

Squid Meeting Doodle
I've been busy with work and/or slackin' (maybe because of work), so I haven't been too busy with this-here sketchbook. Here's something I did in a meeting a week ago, but somehow couldn't get onto my computer for cropping and erasing of meeting notes until now. If you look closely, you can still catch a typed out number "5" in the bottom left corner of the scribble. There ought to be some interesting doodles coming from me in the next six weeks, along with a finished painting or two (if I can make some time).

From a Book of Adventure Motorcycle Tours
This drawing is taken from a photo from Colette Coleman's book, Planet Earth's Greatest Motorcycle Adventure Tours
Anyhow, I'm looking at my drawing an cringing. That back wheel is so hopped up. That's just the most glaring issue I've got with this sketch. Oh well... I guess this is what this sketchbook-blog is all about. I'm forcing myself to put out work on a weekly basis and will post work that I love along with work that I feel is just a rough start.

Cafe Racer Painting Draft
Here's the rough outline of a painting I've started for my friend, Carl. It's taken from an old photo of his father on a cafe racer, somewhere in England. In the next couple of weeks I should be posting a finished version.
